bloated, nauseous, diarrhea, abdominal pains, arching leg (usually the left one)....the list goes on. it looks like i get hanged with the negative aspects of it. Good for you who make sounded decisions. i have not noted any 'extreme' behavioral changes except a slight intolerance for people who seem to be 'knowingly acting stupid. But the pain subsides if i am able to workout for at least two weeks before the onset of my menses. Anyway, when the pain is that bad, i resort to medication else i use a hot water bottle and coil up to sleep, but alas, not when i am at work.

PMT is real alright..

Nana, I think society reacts the way it does because it does not know/understand/try to understand what it is women are going through during this period. And I think enlightened women/enlightened men do not do enough politically/socially to help society understand what they're going through. Society wouldn't be in such a hurry to "put women in their place"
if it understood what it was dealing with.
What scientists know about the human body and brain today, should be enough to explode several harmful justifications and myths about women. But do we get that knowledge out?? NO! Do we use it to change society's perception of men and womens role within its confines?? NO!

I've heard/read also about PMDD - post menstrual dysphoric disorder which is pretty much extreme PMS... the "menstrual murders" might not be so far fetched...

It's funny, but in a way I prefer my PMS-ing self. Like BrownAngel I definitely make sounder decisions and I am altogether calmer and quieter (being a naturally, loud LOUD, vaguely crazy and passionate person). I am definately more disspassionate. I think there is some truth in Mike's 'uneducated guess'.

Oh, yeah and when PMS-ing sex can be quite awful or OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD...*sigh*

I have laughed so much whilst reading these comments:

@Maameous - I think "sexdian" is more badass. Can I add that to the Adventures dictonary?

@Mike - That sounds like a very sound "uneducated thought". Thanks for sharing, cracking me up with your "Mama thick" comment

@Brown Angel - Wow! So your period actually works in your favour. I don't think I'm less efficient during my period, I'm just a bit more on the edge...does that make me less efficient? Maybe.

LOL @ the "Mama thick:"

Yea its true.. I actually am amazing at work pre-and during the menstrual period. I make and take the best decisions then and I am rather clear headed ( all my break ups happen then... when i can no longer take the foolishness). Whereas some people say their judgment is overly emotional and clouded, I find it to be the opposite. Go figure.

Yea sadly I still do get the occasional pimple, the bloated feeling and I really really need a good back breaking session (sex).
God works in mysterious ways :-)
