@Kofi: That's something to ponder!
@Mike: Happy Banging! I think that will be my standard holiday greeting in lieu of Happy New Year or Happy Independence Day. I totally agree with you. It is indeed a mindset. Once you put something into practice it will eventually become a habit and then a part of your behavior.

Happy Banging?? LMAO
Kofi, you could be right.

I personally think it is a mindset & if we work harder on always using protection, it will eventually become a habit.

Could it be that sex is fundamentally about the life (reproductive) instinct (bastardized Freud and Darwin), no matter how much we make obeisance to HIV/AIDS and the other arguments against barrier method sex?

This is true! Intellectually, I think we all know that we should always use a condom or do SOME sort of preliminary interview with the person you're about to hop in the sack with, but that puts a damper on the "heat" of the moment, doesn't it? I suppose that's why we even have women/men with Phd's caught up in foolish life long drama. This is something to explore!

You know what I really want to talk about? How we know all this stuff intellectually yet never seem to practise it. I think most people have bought into condom use but not getting tested before starting a relationship with each new partner (including myself). We seem to get caught up in the moment forgetting that the consequences could last forever
