The Adventures Live! festival is an in person and virtual gathering that focuses on creating space to talk about sex, sexualities and pleasure. It’s co-organised each year by a working group of feminist, queer and sex positive Africans. The 2019 and 2020 editions of the festival were held in Accra, Ghana. In 2021, the event was held virtually due to concerns around state sanctioned homophobia in Ghana. In 2022, the festival begins to fulfill its pan Africanist ambitions by heading to Nairobi, Kenya in partnership with The Spread. It is our hope that in subsequent years Adventures Live! will travel to other African countries.
Adventures Live! is a political project. We think it’s important for Africans to gather, and to discuss, share and learn from one other about our bodies, intimacies, and pleasure. It’s part of our revolutionary practice as MASI Media (the parent company administering Adventures from the Bedrooms of African Women) to convene space that allows us to do this. We welcome support from individuals and institutions who wish to support this work.
