In 2019, I said to my BFFFL Malaka Grant, “I want us to organise a festival on sex and sexualities”, and in November that year, with the support of so many incredible African feminists, we pulled off an incredible event in Accra, Ghana. Since then, every year Adventures Live has taken place IRL in Accra, apart from 2021 when we did something different – an online festival incorporating virtual reality.
This year we’re going BIG! We’re partnering with Kaz Entertainment and going to Nairobi, Kenya, for an AdventuresLiveXThe Spread festival. This is a dream come true. When I first envisaged this festival I saw it as a pan African festival that would rotate through different African countries and territories.
The theme of the festival this year is ‘Sexual Utopia: Here, Now and Beyond’. This year we invite you to imagine and co-create with us, a utopia made out of your most pleasurable fantasies. We invite you to imagine the desires that make you feel safe, happy, and free.
