Sifting Through Ash

Written by Highest Kite from the series ‘Rebel’

why is everything war?
a walk outside
a lie in bed
thoughts of days ahead
a sudden mention of my name
do I know who I am/’ve become?

                                           I forget

the sound of my voice when

                                                     honest

                                                     unafraid

                                                     on earth, present and

in love
with more
more newness
more noons outside
more softening, if only
for my mind
for the slightest eases of my
feels like a drum-of-gin-chased-with-saltwater-mind
do not start trouble = be quiet = was it my fault

                                                         was it too late

                                                         must be fate’s wheel

was it my decision, my path?

                                                      = Harshness/Rigidness

to always be right = Loss

of small but
vital parts of life
after gestating fear,

                                                     rebel
