Dear Adventurers, what advice would you give to this gentleman below. Do share in the comments. And Nnenna, nope, we don’t have the forums anymore 😛
I’m a Nigerian male in my early 40’s.. I’ve been married to my wife for 12 years. She’s in her late 30’s. We met in the States in 1998 and have been together for most of the last 18 years. Both of us were born in Nigeria and grew up till early twenties in my case and late teens in her case before leaving for the US.
I decided to return to Nigeria in 2012. I spent several months in Accra before eventually moving to Lagos. The decision to move back was a mutual decision. The plan was for me to settle down and the family would join in 12 – 18 months. Our younger son had some medical issues that required therapy so we decided to postpone the reunion.
By 2015, he was through with therapy. “Oya, wifey when una dey come?” Na im wifey say I no dey come again. Haba!!! Why the about face? No reason. I just don’t want to come. I don’t believe Nigeria is for me. Okay, if that’s the case let’s manage the situation as is. I visit the States four to six times a year. Fast forward to the present and my wife is demanding a divorce. WTF??? I returned home. It’s our home. Both of us were meant to return home. Now, all of a sudden she does an about face and wants a divorce.
Looking for advice on how to win her back. Note I would rather not move back to the States. I love it in Lagos. What am I not seeing as a male?

In my opinion there isn’t enough information to give him a meaningful advice. There must be a reason why his wife has suddenly changed and saying Nigeria is not for her. Something must have happened. Or she has heard about something the husband is doing or not doing and instead of asking has decided to call it quits. He should try hard to find out the real reason she wants to end the marriage. It is only then he can get a good advice as to how to get her back. Anything else will ge guess work and it may not help much.
